NCHC RECEIVES 2015 THC DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
July 11, 2016 - County Judge Rosemary Johnson presented NCHC Chairman John Jefferson with Texas Historical Commission 2015 Distinguished Service Award at the County Commissioners Court. Judge Johnson thanked NCHC volunteers for all the work they have done and continue to do in the preservation of Newton County's history. NCHC has received this award yearly since THC started awarding them in 1973!

"This committee spent countless hours over the past several years verifying the Newton Cemetery inventory and platting its sections. No easy task! Sections 1-6 have been published. The "Old Section" to be published this year.
